OroraTech nominated for German Digital Award
Published on Sat, 28.08.2021 – 11:36 CEST in Awards, covering OroraTechThe Munich-based company OroraTech has been nominated as one of 10 finalists for the German digital award "The Spark". This award is presented by Handelsblatt and McKinsey and honors companies "whose ideas have the potential to fundamentally change markets." (Handelsblatt)
OroraTech, with its space-based detection of forest fires, is the only company from NewSpace to make it to the finals. As part of the award ceremony, there will be a community voting, whose votes will be included in the voting. On October 6, 2021, all finalists will present themselves again, and on November 11, 2021, the winners will be announced.
This year's award ceremony will focus on startups with Net Zero Tech concepts. Because climate change is no longer just an apocalyptic prophecy of scientists, but already underway. Avoiding emissions, first and foremost CO2, is seen as a crucial contribution to mitigating the associated consequences. Globally, forest fires release more carbon dioxide per year than the entire European Union. The earlier forest fires are detected, the faster they can be fought. This is good for the climate, protects human lives - no less important - and reduces financial damage.
