Every year, Deutsche Bahn (DB) honors some of its suppliers for outstanding performance and innovation. In addition to the four main categories General Requirements and Services, Infrastructure, Environment and Rail Vehicles and Parts, the DB Supplier Innovation Award was also presented. This award was won by the Berlin-based startup LiveEO. The awards were presented by members of the Group Board of Management at a ceremony in Berlin on June 29, 2021.

Co-founder Daniel Seidel's team has already been monitoring DB's 33,000 km rail network since 2018. Their goal is to detect risks to rail traffic posed by trees, shrubs and other plants from space. As DB writes, this technology makes it possible for the first time to obtain a complete overview of the condition of vegetation along the entire rail network.

However, the award now presented is not the only reason to be pleased. As LiveEO writes, the size of the customer Deutsche Bahn and the scope of the order helped to develop the solution in such a way that it works on a large scale on the one hand, and with the highest precision on the other. To achieve this, the Berliners use not only space travel, but also cloud computing and artificial intelligence.
